Directions to Gorah Elephant Camp

Gorah Elephant Camp, winner of the Relais & Chateaux international welcome award for 2011, is a luxurious sanctuary situated in the heart of elephant country. This malaria free concession, right in the middle of the Addo Elephant National Park of the Eastern Cape, is the very first in South Africa, and boasts not only the Big 5, but also the densest elephant population on earth.

Reminicent of Noble safari 1910, the “Ralph Lauren meets Out of Africa” lodge is a five star experience, just 70km from Port Elizabeth. Little compares to the delight of watching a herd of elephant silently passing as you enjoy the luxury of being served a glass of bubbles on the elegant veranda while overlooking a watering hole where animals come at all times to drink, bath and entertain.

Guests at Gorah Elephant Camp, a member of Relais & Chateaux, can enjoy excellent meals and superb accommodation. This 5 000 hectare private concession is malaria-free, has the Big 5 and the world famous Addo Elephant National Park now has the densest population of elephants in the world. Having been visited by Sydney Pollak, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep you can assured of a great and unforgettable experience.

Addo is home to other game species such as lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo, and many smaller varieties of animals – jackals, wild dog, hyena and various varieties of antelope. Keep an eye out for the enchanting and famous dung beetles and tortoises. Addo is a 14000 hectare fenced park near the Eastern Cape Zuurberg mountain range in the Sunday’s River Valley.
