Your much awaited safari in the Addo Elephant National Park, 'Home of the Big Seven' starts of with a one night stay in the 'Friendly City' of Port Elizabeth recently renamed Gqeberha, the Xhosa name for the Baakens River which flows through the City. First night gives you an opportunity to explore the night life of PE by visiting nearby seaside restaurants and pubs. Port Elizabeth is the largest City in the Eastern Cape Province, it is known as 'The Windy City' or the 'Friendly City'. It has one of the countries largest seaports. The city was originally founded as a settlement for British emigrants. The Area was previously inhabited by the San and the Xhosa. Xhosa is one of South Africa's 11 official languages and one of the few in the world that has a 'click' sound, which can be difficult for non-Xhosa speakers to master. After a night in the city, your guide will take you on a 30mins drive at 7:30am to the Addo Elephant National South Gate. Once in Addo, you will be served a full continental breakfast whilst your guide is getting your day entry and exit permits. You are welcome to assist your guide to set up your picnic table. Addo Elephant National Park was established in the year 1931 with the main objective of protecting the last remaining small herd of African elephants. The park is proudly one of the only places in the world that accommodates the big seven mammals in their natural habitats. Addo is the 3rd biggest and the most diverse park in South Africa. Your exploration adventure of the world renowned Addo Elephant National will start soon after breakfast. The park is a very wild place in which animals are free roaming. You are welcome to participate in animal spotting, looking out for members of the 'Big 5', antelopes, birds and reptiles. After discovering what the Addo bush can offer you on a morning safari, the tour will end with a drive back to Gqeberha arriving back at you safari city accommodation by 12:30pm

  • - The open safari vehicle is limited to guests staying at our coastal accommodation as per South African National Parks regulation - The use of an open safari vehicle is weather dependent - If weather is forecast to be bad, a closed top vehicle with windows that can open will be used.
