Description

Experience creativity, community, and culture at the Motherwell Community Environmental Hub in Gqeberha. Choose from three different experiences that combine hands-on creative activities with a guided tour of the Hub, giving you the opportunity to learn a practical skill, create something of your own, and discover the community and environmental work taking place at the Hub.

1. Motherwell Leather Craft & Heritage Experience

Begin with a leather craft workshop, where you’ll receive a hands-on introduction to leather crafting and be guided through the process of creating a small leather product. Depending on the workshop setup, create items such as a leather key holder, card holder, or phone holder.

After the creative workshop, take a guided tour of the Hub and learn about community development initiatives, environmental projects, recycling and upcycling, food-garden activities, creative and skills-development projects, and the role of the Hub within the Motherwell community. Take photographs, ask questions, and interact with the local environment.

2. Motherwell Fashion Design & Heritage Experience

Begin with a fashion design workshop, where you’ll be introduced to the creative process behind fashion design and learn how a clothing idea develops into a garment concept. The experience can include developing a fashion concept, inspiration and design ideas, fashion illustration, designing a garment, understanding garment shapes, introduction to pattern development, understanding the journey from sketch to garment, and practical creative activities guided by a local fashion designer.

Then, explore the Hub through a guided tour, learning about its community, environmental, creative, and skills-development initiatives.

3. Motherwell Creative Experience

This is the premium experience, combining two creative workshops with the Motherwell Community Environmental Hub tour.

Begin with a leather craft workshop, where you’ll learn basic leather-craft techniques and create a small leather item such as a key holder, card holder, or phone holder.

Then, explore the Hub and learn about its environmental, community, recycling, food-garden, creative, and skills-development initiatives.

Finally, be introduced to the fashion-design process and take part in a practical design activity, exploring concepts such as fashion illustration, garment design, and the journey from idea to finished garment.
